Try it
This demo contains the full audio engine, the full synth, the full mixer, the full editing suite, running in your browser. Only saving and exporting is disabled.
Opens in a new tab. Nothing is installed or shared with us or third parties.
Before you start
Use headphones or speakers
A laptop speaker will technically work, but will misrepresent the audio quality. There is a lot of stereo width and low end in those patches!
Best browsers to use
Chrome, Chromium, Edge, Brave, Vivaldi give the best results. Firefox mostly works, but its WebAudio implementation produces buffer underruns more often. Safari should work, but is not as well-tested.
Desktop or tablet
The interface is fully multi-touch and works properly on a tablet. Smaller screens like phones work for most of the editing suite, but not all of the audio stuff.
What to do
A demo project is loaded and ready. If you only have two minutes, do these in order:
- Press play. A full production starts, synthesized live in the tab.
- Open the mixer while it plays. Move a fader, throw a channel into solo, change a send. Any automation keeps working around your changes as all automation is relative.
- Open an instrument and look at the Hybris patch. The module layout you are looking at is the synth. Grab an oscillator's detune or a filter cutoff while the track runs.
- Open the pianoroll on any clip and draw a few notes. Every edit previews as you make it.
For more details: The Xequence 2 manual covers the arranger, pianoroll and controller editors in full.
On a desktop, nearly everything is also on a key: the keyboard shortcuts.
What's disabled
- Saving projects, instruments, or patches
- Exporting audio or MIDI
Everything else works. That does mean anything you make in the demo is gone when you close the tab, so treat it as a test drive rather than a studio session.
The code is obfuscated for now. The moment the campaign reaches € 5,000, the whole thing is on GitHub under the AGPLv3, save and export included.
If you liked it
This is what the campaign is trying to make open-source. The code goes public at € 5,000.
